The Garden is a small independent shop on St Augustine’s Street, Norwich primarily selling produce grown on our “no dig” market garden as well as a selection of veg and bedding plants. If you like nutritious healthy locally grown veg which is chemical and pesticide free we are just what you need in your life. We also sell a small but slowly expanding range of other local produce such as our amazing honey from Bunwell Hives, locally made Kombucha by the Ladies at Oichi and a range of our own jams and preserves. We are currently open between April through too November, check the bottom of this page to see our current opening hours.
What is No Dig Market Gardening
Championed by the likes of Charles Dowding, Richard Perkins and Curtis Stone (all have great videos on YouTube), No Dig Market Gardening is a method of growing where by layers of compost, manure or other mulches are laid directly to the surface of the soil without being dug in. By not disturbing the soil structure the ecology within the soil is left alone to process nutrients and make them available for the plants. The Mulch layer also suppresses weed growth and water evaporation saving hours of labour and lots of water. If you wish to find out more there is now a wealth of information online.
